How Were You Introduced to the Zone BBS?

A fruitless question perhaps, but: Even as every leaf has its own history, or every breath of wind has its own start; even as every flower has its own beginning as a blossom, or every drop of water has its own source: so too, do we Zone BBS members all have a reason for having joined the community. Whether we were introduced to it by a friend, ran across it via another site, or found it through a search engine, we all have different circumstances. How were you introduced to the Zone BBS?

Hot braille had kind of died, and a friend of mine mentioned this new site which had some similar features. I signed up, visited a few times, and forgot about it for a long time. About 4 months ago through some newly made friends, I came back and have been very active ever since.

I had been on another set of Boards that was also mainly directed towards the Blind/VI when Caitlin from The Zone here would make a visit from time to time and give encouragement to visit here and to share...I decided to take her up on her offer.

I used to be on HotBraille which died. Then I got info about eyes2eyes and their e-pals board. But it is boring as hell with only about half a dozen active members. Someone on there mentioned the zone, and I have been hooked ever since.

Post 9 by krisme (Ancient Zoner) on Saturday, 01-Oct-2005 10:33:50

My friend Megan (user 346) introduced me to the zone which she'd discovered a few months before. Since then I've been hooked and discovered that I have a lot of other friends on here too. And yes, doing anagrams with other people is really fun and increases your score.

Let's see if I can explain how I was introduced to this site. Hmm... It started with this person who knew one of my friends who knew me. That didn't make sense but... let's move along. I was basically introduced to this site by a chain of my friends. Frankly, I'm glad I was introduced to this place because now I have so many friends.

it's funny cos this originally wasn't meant to be a specifically blindy site but I guess it has become that Lol

Post 13 by wonderwoman (I've now got the silver prolific poster award! wahoo!) on Saturday, 01-Oct-2005 20:09:49

I was on the chatting for the blind email list, where they talk about accessible chat programs, and someone was asking about hot braille, and someone else said there wassomething much better, so I joined mostly out of curiosity. I'm not much of a game person, and though I feel I'm a bit old for the boards, voice chat is dying, and dying, and my connection has slowed down, so message boards are easier, because text and message boards don't care how slow your internet connection is. I'm not in the right age range to be really really hooked, but it's ok.

My mom signed me up on my 14th birthday... and that's all she wrote. Then, I got a ton of people to join--Tim (trssharp), Tony (saiyan4414), Johnathon (Picard)... and some others, I think.

I used to be on HotBraille, and when that site went down, I found Eyes2Eyes. But like someone already mentioned, that site has very few active members. Someone posted the link to this site over there, and I've been here ever since.

I too used to be on hotbraille, anyway, I have Canadian_deeva on my live journal friend's list. She linked to the site a few times in her journal so I checked it out, and so the storry gos on.

Post 20 by Resonant (Find me alive.) on Monday, 03-Oct-2005 1:47:38

The Puggle mentioned it was worth a look, yonks ago, and I didn't think of it again til 3 am one morning in the midst of an insomniac, procrastination session. I was around back in the Hotbraille days, but didn't really keep in touch with anyone after it went down, so I spent my first week on the Zone poking people with "Are you ....?" "Do you remember me....?"

Post 21 by Char (The sexy canadian) on Monday, 03-Oct-2005 6:04:59

Well, i first heard of the zone by the user fabolous last august. So i've been here ever since and met lots of great people!

I had used to be on Hotbraille, and after that went down, Sullidog informed me about Eyes2Eyes. Then someone mentioned the Zone on a discussion there, so I wanted to check it out and soon decided to give it a try and have been here ever since. I still go to Eyes2Eyes to read articles, but I don't log in as often.

I also was a HotBraille user and was on E-Pals and I had heard of the Zone and decided to check it out and after the anagrams were added, I started coming back more because I love complicated word games, heehee

Post 27 by Jesse (Hmm!) on Friday, 07-Oct-2005 7:18:29

I think it may have been mentioned on ACB Radio, and that's how I heard of it.

Post 28 by sugar (Entertain me. I dare you.) on Friday, 07-Oct-2005 12:10:43

A simple story... hehehee. I think I was slightly drunk, and I was at internet_king's, half asleep, and he was on this website. I said I'd check it out, not thinking that I probably ever would, and found myself bored two days later, and thought I'd come an have a look. Here I am.
